Follow-up email after applying (no response yet)
Most applications go into an ATS and sit there. A short, polite nudge 7-10 days after applying puts your name back in front of a human, without sounding pushy.

Subject: Following up on my [Role] application
Hi [Hiring Manager's name], I applied for the [Role] position at [Company] on [date] and wanted to follow up to confirm my application was received. I remain very interested in the role and [Company]'s work on [something specific: a product, mission, or team]. Happy to share any additional information that would help. Thanks for your time. Best, [Your name]
Tips
- Timing: wait 7-10 business days after applying before your first follow-up. Earlier can read as impatient.
- Find the right person: a hiring manager or recruiter beats a generic careers@ inbox if you can find one on LinkedIn or the company site.
- Keep it short: this is a nudge, not a cover letter. Three sentences is plenty.
- One more try: if you still don't hear back after another week or two, see the second follow-up template.
Followup remembers exactly when you applied to every job and tells you when it's time to send this, then drafts it for you automatically.
